Our Wedding

Life has changed a bit since we first got engaged. We have gained a baby girl, a family home and a Vizla. Although life hasn't happened in the order we originally planned, we still want to take the time to get married and celebrate with our family and friends properly. We would love you to join us.

Getting There

TRANSPORTATION

We recommend having a car on the island if you are planning on doing anything beyond the wedding. If you do drive we suggest filling up at the Asda in Ardrossan before boarding the ferryas petrol on the island is at a premium

Flying

Glasgow International Airport (GLA) is served by many major airlines and you can join the ferry train at Paisley Gilmore Street (5mins in a taxi) directly to Ardrossan Harbour.

Sleeper Train

If you are travelling from London you can get the sleeper train from Euston Station. You can take bikes for free but please note they only take 6 bikes on each train so book them in advance. You can then catch the onward train from Glasgow Central to catch the ferry at Ardrossan Harbour.

Taxis

It takes 45mins to drive from Glasgow International Airport to Ardrossan harbour. If you are likely to be rushing for a ferry the we recommend booking a taxi (Ardrossan Taxis 01294 463556) in advance and confirm your arrival as you reach the luggage hall as they are slow, this will save you valuable minutes to make the ferry!

Trains

The Ardrossan Harbour train from Glasgow Central links with the ferry, it’s very convenient and easy. If you are flying then get a taxi to Paisley Gilmore Street station and jump on the train there. Please note there are 3 stations in Ardrossan -  You want Ardrossan Harbour which is the end of the line and 100 yard walk to the terminal where you buy your tickets before you board the ferry. You can also buy ferry tickets on the train or at the train station by listing your destination as Brodick.

Ferry

Caledondian MacBrayne sail from Ardrossan to Brodick taking approximately 55minutes.

If you are bringing or hiring a car you will need to book the ferry in advance, ideally by March for popular sailings on Friday afternoon or Saturday. Be aware that they are very strict about being ready to board as you need to be in the queue at Ardrossan at least 30 minutes before  the boat sets sail or you will be put in the unbooked queue and may forfeit your spot. As a foot passenger you don't need to book but you do need to be there at least 15 minutes before sailing.

ACCOMMODATION

Please note that when booking accommodation we strongly recommend you stay in Brodick, Lamlash or Margnaheglish. Lamlash is approx 4 miles south of Brodick. These are the 2 main villages on the island and Corriegills is a hamlet about 1½ miles from the ferry terminal. Anything with the address in Brodick, Lamlash, Strathwillan, Corriegills, Cordon, Cuddy Dook will be in easy reach.

Unfortunately, we can't reserve rooms for guests as the hotels required significant deposits, but we can recommend Auchrannie in Brodick for families and The Douglas for couples but there are many other options including Air Bnb and other Bnbs in the area which are much cheaper. There are also options for camping in Brodick should anyone be keen :).

Most information on accommodation can be found on the Visit Arran website . Also Cottages and Castles though check the map carefully to ensure the location. The Cottage Guide, again worth checking the map carefully and The Arran Team also deal in lettings.

We appreciate that everyone is having to travel to our wedding and as such we don't expect wedding presents. Your presence on the day is more than enough.

However, should you still want to, we have a wedding list of items for our new home.
